postdoc LPP/IMFT: semiconductor-barrier plasma discharges for electric aerodynamic propulsion
The objective of this project is to apply the semiconductor-barrier discharge to electroaerodynamic (EAD) propulsion. This will involve designing and building the plasma reactor using various film deposition techniques. Uniform plasma generation will be demonstrated and characterized using plasma diagnostics such as fast imaging and optical emission spectroscopy (OES). Electric field-induced second harmonic generation (EFISH) will be developed specifically for the EAD propulsion device to measure the electric field in the plasma and in the drift region between the emitter and collector. The produced direct thrust will be measured using suitable load cells. The generated flow field will be characterized using different techniques.
